Original coronavirus hot zone Wuhan has finally emerged from its 11-week lockdown.
Following 76 days cut off from the outside world the final restrictions on movement in and out of the city have been lifted.
The city’s 11 million residents can now leave the city limits without special authorisation but must continue using the mandatory smartphone app so their travel and possible contact with anyone with the virus can be tracked.
"I haven’t been outside for more than 70 days," resident Tong Zhengkun told reporters.
"Being indoors for so long drove me crazy," he said.
"The people in Wuhan paid out a lot and bore a lot mentally and psychologically," said resident Zhang Xiang.
"Wuhan people are historically famous for their strong will."
Flights have restarted from Wuhan Tianhe International Airport and trains are running again.
Despite life getting back to normal and freedom of movement restored, authorities are still insisting on social distancing and the wearing of masks, and there remains a large police presence across the city to ensure this.
