There is more upcoming consolidation in the US hospitality market with Wyndham Hotel Group agreeing a deal to acquire Minnesota-based AmericInn.
Wyndham will pay around $170 million to current owner Northcott Hospitality for the AmericInn brand and its management company Three Rivers Hospitality.
The deal includes 200 mostly franchised hotels in 21 states, including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, and North Dakota.
It will become Wyndham’s 20th brand.
In a release Wyndham said it will look at divesting the owned portfolio, which numbers 10 hotels.
"AmericInn’s guest-centric culture aligns perfectly with our values, making it a fantastic tuck-in brand for us. And with the global middle class expected to more than double in the next 10 years, we know investing in the midscale segment allows us to offer great experiences and value at price points that travelers need," said Geoff Ballotti, Wyndham Hotel Group president and CEO.
It follows the recent unveiling of a new Wyndham soft brand called The Trademark Hotel Collection, consisting of independent upper-midscale-and-above hotels.
"By joining a renowned company with more hotels globally than any other, our AmericInn brand and our owners have the unique opportunity to leverage Wyndham’s tremendous distribution and sales and marketing capabilities, taking the brand to the next level," said Northcott Hospitality CEO Paul Kirwin.
