Norwegian Cruise Line has marked the float out of the first Prima Plus Class ship.
Norwegian Aqua has floated out from dry dock at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera. Venice.
The Norwegian Aqua received its ceremonial coins followed by a blessing by a local Chaplain and champagne breaking across the ship’s hull.
“We are excited to celebrate another milestone with our partners at Fincantieri, who are integral to the Prima Class journey,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.
The Prima Plus ship offers a 10% increase in space compared to the first two Prima Class vessels.
The 156,300 gross ton ship features the world’s first-ever hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide, the Aqua Slidecoaster.
Other new innovations include a new digital sports complex with an interactive LED floor, Glow Court; and NCL’s most expansive 360-degree outdoor promenade, Ocean Boulevard.
The ship will also house The Haven by Norwegian, with NCL’s first-ever Three-Bedroom Duplex Haven Suites.
Construction continues on Norwegian Aqua until its debut in April 2025.
The ship will then sail seven-day Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral, Florida.
Scheduled calls include Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and private island destination, Great Stirrup Cay.
